BCPP weakens after five weeks of growth

Prague, July 26 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) weakened after five weeks of growth in week 30, the PX index falling by almost 1 percent to 1,597.8 points, and Austria's Erste Bank rose the most, while pharmacy chain Pilulka was the biggest loser, the BCPP said on its website.

The PX index rose by 1.4 percent in the previous week.

"The Prague Stock Exchange did not fare well in the past week, ending the previous five-week rise. The bourse weakened on three of the five trading days, rising only on Monday and Tuesday. On Friday, it returned below the 1,600-point mark, which it had previously surpassed on July 15 for the first time since June 2008," said Wood & Company broker Vladimir Vavra.

Erste shares broke the Kc1,200 mark today. On a week-on-week basis, the stock increased by 1.91 percent to Kc1,200.50, rising for six weeks in a row.

Metallurgical company Gevorkyan saw a rise of 0.78 percent to Kc258 and solar power plant builder Photon Energy grew by 0.68 percent to Kc44.20, rising for four straight weeks.

Shares of beverage maker Kofola increased by 0.67 percent to close at Kc302 and tobacco company Philip Morris traded 0.13 percent higher at Kc15,340.

Pilulka wrote off 14.13 percent to Kc155.

Drone maker Primoco reported a fall of 9.09 percent to Kc900 and Austrian insurer VIG decreased by 5.48 percent to Kc741.

Arms maker Colt lost 1.63 percent on the week to Kc664. Vavra attributed the decline to the accelerated share subscription, with some shareholders selling 335,000 shares, equivalent to about 0.66 percent of the total number of issued shares, at a price of Kc650 apiece.

Komercni banka shares weakened by 1.36 percent to Kc799. Moneta Money Bank fell by 0.55 percent to Kc108.60. For Moneta, the decline was related to profit-taking after Thursday's publication of half-year results.

Energy group CEZ lost 0.66 percent to Kc905 per share.
