Students Explore the World of Entrepreneurship Through Summer Company Program

With the support of the Government of Ontario's 2024 Summer Company Program, five student entrepreneurs launched their own businesses this summer. The program, facilitated by the City Greater Sudbury's Regional Business Centre, provides successful applicants with training, mentorship, and start-up grants of up to $3,000.

The Summer Company program enables students to explore their entrepreneurial spirit and gain valuable experience in managing their own businesses by developing comprehensive business plans complete with financial projections and budgeting.

Throughout the summer, students collaborated with the Regional Business Centre team to learn fundamental business principles such as marketing and sales strategies, as well as financial management. This training allowed them to effectively promote and sell their products and services within the community.

"Each one of these young entrepreneurs turned their passions into a reality with the Summer Company program this year," said Greater Sudbury Mayor Paul Lefebvre. "Entrepreneurship is vital to the growth of our community, and we hope to see these young entrepreneurs opening more businesses in the future. Congratulations on this incredible feat, and I urge Greater Sudbury residents to continue supporting local businesses."
