Euromines Mining video-Podcast: Episode2 with Tomas Wyns

Welcome to Euromines Mining video-Podcast, a new series of insight talks with renowned experts, exploring the role, reality, impact and future of raw materials mining sector in Europe and the world.

‼️An example of green growth, is where you build something new and you require a whole industry to support you. It's not only the mining, but it's also the copper producers, the wire producer, the electronic producers, all below that. And if we can ensure that we have such a healthy value chain in Europe, that is how you secure most employment, most growth, most welfare, and so on.

In Episode2, Florian Anderhuber, Deputy Director General in Euromines sits down with Tomas Wyns, a Researcher in the Environment and Sustainable Development cluster at the Brussels School of Governance of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel ( LinkedIn ). Tomas started his career as a climate policy officer in the environmental administration of the Flemish government in Belgium, where he accompanied the Emissions Trading System from its very nascent stages. Tomas is working on European and international climate policy, and advising and supporting EU industrial sectors on their climate neutrality pathways and trajectories.

EPISODE1 with Peter Tom Jones

‼️What does it take to transform to a carbon neutral and circular place? The answer might be counter-intuitive: more mining

In Episode1, Florian Anderhuber, Deputy Director General in Euromines sits down with Peter Tom Jones, Director KU Leuven Institute for Sustainable Metals and Minerals (SIM2) (LinkedIn). Tom walks us through the modern industrial landscape where the societies added the ESG practices to their ambitions and geopolitics replaced the free-trade globalistation with strategic autonomy. In this new reality, 'the metals and minerals are driving the climate neutral economy: the heat pumps, the electrolyzers, the wind turbines, the EVs, the photovoltaic panels…'.

Join us for a 40-minute interview on responsible mining, refining and recycling in Europe.
