At its recent Plugfest and General Assembly meeting in Bologna, Italy, the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) named AEM's Austin Gellings to the position of secretary. In this role, he will serve as a liaison between AEM and AEF, helping to broaden interoperability in the agriculture industry around the world.
AEF is a global non-profit organization founded to improve cross-manufacturer compatibility in agricultural equipment. The organization hosts biannual Plugfest events each year, one in Europe and the other in North America, to give agricultural electronics engineers from different manufacturers the opportunity to work side-by-side testing protocols to optimize interoperability in support of the farmer and the broader agriculture industry.
"AEM is a founding member of AEF and we've been involved to provide the North American perspective representing AEM members and North American equipment manufacturers," said Gellings, AEM director of agriculture services. "The work that AEF does to help ensure machine interoperability and the collaboration between organizations are essential to creating more efficient farm operations that benefit everyone."
AEF was founded in 2008 and includesparticipation from eight agriculture equipment manufacturers, three associations and over 280 general members that work together to improve cross-manufacturer compatibility of electronic and electric components in agricultural equipment.
