A two-day criminal interdiction mission involving multiple agencies resulted in arrests, large drug seizures, a firearm seizure, and deflection services.

On Friday, September 13th, 2024, and Saturday, September 14th, 2024, East Precinct officers, with assistance from the Oregon State Police, Gresham Police Department, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and the Multnomah District Attorney Access Program (MAAP), conducted a criminal interdiction mission with an emphasis on apprehending those engaged in the sale of narcotics and the use of narcotics in the East Portland community.

The activity centered around the open drug use in the areas of Southeast 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street and Southeast 148th Avenue and East Burnside Street. This multi-agency mission addressed the issue of criminal drug possession and dealing. Multiple people were taken into custody during the mission period.

The Multnomah County District Attorney Access Program (MAAP) was present to assist and advise navigating the recent drug law changes. Of the 33 people taken into custody, three were eligible for deflection. Of the 3 eligible, two accepted, and one refused the service. It should be noted deflection services were only available for one day of the mission, as they are not available on the weekend.

The mission resulted in:

33 arrests
6 citations

1 stolen vehicle recovered
1 firearm seized
152 fentanyl pill seized
199.5 grams of fentanyl powder seized
