Highlights American Water's sustainable impact on communities across the U.S.
CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today that it has issued its eighth Sustainability Report covering its industry leadership and performance on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. The report covers the 2023 reporting year and is the first American Water Sustainability Report to be published in its new annual cadence.

American Water prepared the Sustainability Report with reference to the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, and includes applicable metrics from the Edison Electric Institute and American Gas Association ESG/sustainability reporting template. The report also takes into consideration the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the company's responses to the annual CDP Climate Change questionnaire.
