Music Ministry Leadership program to be added starting Fall 2024

A new major has been added to the School of Communication, Media and Fine Arts with the Music Ministry Leadership program, set to be introduced in Fall 2024. This 39-credit-hour major will blend music and theology classes to help students gain proficiency in music performance as well as theological understanding, equipping graduates to lead worship professionally.

"This program fills a critical need for trained, passionate leaders who are dedicated to using their musical talents to serve others and spread the message of Jesus Christ," said Dr. Matthew Dueppen, Chair of the Music Department. "I am confident that our students will emerge from this program prepared to make a positive impact in churches and communities around the world."

Some of the requirements for the Music Ministry Leadership major include being proficient in worship instruments such as guitar, drum set, and voice, serving on a worship team at SAU through either Chapel Band or Wellspring, and having a practicum/internship experience in the community. Students in the program also have the option to do the CMC Nashville semester experience, where students learn about technical production, songwriting, worship leadership, or music business.
