Monterey Park City Council Expresses Support for Apalachee High School and Winder Community

The Monterey Park City Council is deeply saddened to hear about the tragic school shooting that took place on September 4, 2024 at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Our hearts go out to the students, families, and staff at Apalachee H.S. and the Winder community affected by this senseless act of violence.

Please know that the entire community of the City of Monterey Park stands in solidarity with Apalachee and Winder during this difficult time. We offer our heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to all affected by this terrible act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as they cope with this immense loss.

The Monterey Park City Council vigorously believes that all residents deserve to be safe from gun violence and supports common sense gun safety legislation such as bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, universal background checks, and red flag laws. The Council strongly encourages our local, state and federal representatives to act on these issues.
