ASE Education Foundation, Goodguys, WyoTech Teach Students About Automotive Careers

Leesburg, Virginia 23/09/2024

Next Event Scheduled for Sept. 27 at Texas Motor Speedway

Leesburg, Virginia - Sept. 23, 2024 - The ASE Education Foundation, Goodguys Rod and Custom Association (Goodguys) and WyoTech hosted a successful "Careers in Hot Rodding" program on Sept. 6 in Loveland, Colorado. Over 125 students, plus instructors and counselors, learned about the variety of career paths available in the world of hot rodding and automotive service.

"Our partnership with Goodguys continues to pay dividends as we hosted another successful career day last week in Colorado," said Mike Coley, ASE Education Foundation president. "The Foundation and its partners continue to address the technician shortage by hosting these types of educational events and connecting with students to show them the great opportunities that are available in the automotive industry. We thank Goodguys and WyoTech for helping make this event very beneficial for the students and we are excited for our next event on Sept. 27 at the Texas Motor Speedway."

Through this ongoing program, the ASE Education Foundation, along with Goodguys and their partners, work as a community to enlighten students from across the country about automotive careers with a focus on design and engineering, manufacturing, mechanical, fabrication, paint, marketing, media and sales disciplines.

The ASE Education Foundation and Goodguys are working with local area high schools to identify and recruit students interested in automotive careers and are scheduling Fridays at select Goodguys events for the hands-on career exploration project. At the Loveland event, the students started the day meeting with a panel of experts and top industry professionals. Then they were paired up with a mentor who led them on a tour of the show where the students learned about a wide variety of careers in the automotive field. Students also received two frees tickets to the Goodguys event so they could attend over the weekend.

The ASE Education Foundation and Goodguys will host another "Careers in Hot Rodding" event on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association promotes and produces some of the world's most dynamic automotive events. Founded by lifelong hot rodder Gary Meadors in 1983, Goodguys Rod and Custom Association is the world's largest hot-rodding association with over 70,000 active members worldwide. Goodguys events feature thousands of candy-colored hot rods and customs, tricked out trucks, mighty muscle cars and regal classics sprawled throughout venues such as lush fairgrounds, super speedways and large outdoor stadiums.
