Nampa Parks & Recreation Opens Phase 3 of Orah Brandt Park July 10

On Wednesday, July 10 at 8:30 a.m., Nampa Parks & Recreation invites the public to a ribbon cutting and the opening of Phase 3 at Orah Brandt Park. Phase 3 amenities includes the addition of six pickleball courts, a community event area, a new basketball court, large picnic shelter, a diamond baseball/softball field, small shade shelter, restrooms, expanded fitness walking loop, and additional parking. Although most of the park amenities open on July 10, the Parks and Recreation Department is asking park users to stay off the newly planted grass until it is sufficiently established.

Construction at Orah Brandt Park began in 2018 and the park, which is approximately 30 acres in size, has been built in phases. The park currently offers a splash pad, large inclusive playground, rose garden, soccer fields, small shelter, 9-hole disc golf course, walking trails, restrooms and parking. In later phases of development, the park will offer an amphitheater and swimming pool. No timeline is in place for the construction of the amphitheater and swimming pool; construction will begin as funding becomes available.

Darrin Johnson, Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Nampa said, "We often hear from our citizens the desire for more places to walk, the need for more pickleball courts and the interest to have more shade from the sun. With the completion of the Orah Brandt Park Phase 3, we are happy to be able to provide many of the amenities that are requested and in high demand. North Nampa is a growing part of our city and with more parks and recreation opportunities we will improve the overall quality of life in our community."

Orah Brandt Park is located at 7999 Cherry Lane, near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Cherry Lane. The land was donated by Don Brandt and the park is being developed using Development Park Impact Fees. For more information or questions contact 208-468-5858.
