Suspect Arrested After a Person with a Gun Call

At about 6:56 PM, on Monday, August 5, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Salvador Maldonado, 50, of Manchester, New Hampshire, on assault and battery charges.

Officers responded to the area of 95 Morton Village Drive for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of a suspect with a firearm as well as a fleeing vehicle.

Officers were advised that a victim was stopped at a red light and observed an operator of another vehicle point a firearm at her. As officers were speaking with the victim, a second 911 call came in for a person with a gun in the area of 49 Burt Street.

Officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) observed a vehicle matching that description and exited their cruiser. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the suspect inside and a brown rifle on the front passenger seat next to him. Officers immediately placed the suspect into handcuffs, and the firearm was determined to be a Sig Sauer MCX Airsoft Rifle. After further investigation, officers determined that the suspect was the same individual from the original 911 call.

Maldonado was placed under arrest and charged with Two Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
