At 4:59 p.m. yesterday, Engine 2 was dispatched to the 800 block of East Glass Avenue for a report of a possible illegal burn in an alley. While en route, dispatchers informed firefighters that additional callers reported a garage fire, prompting a full-alarm response.

Engine 2 arrived on the scene within four minutes and found a detached garage on fire, with flames threatening the nearby residence. Firefighters quickly accessed the garage and extinguished the blaze while additional crews deployed hose lines to prevent the flames from spreading to the home.

Thanks to the firefighter's quick response, the fire was contained to the garage, preventing any displacement of tenants and saving property valued at over $230,000. Estimated fire losses are expected to be around $30,000. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
