Broadband Town Hall Event Set for August 17th

Charter Communications/Spectrum, 4-H, and Sumter County are cosponsoring a "Back-to-School Broadband Town Hall" event at the Sumter County Fairgrounds, Expo Hall 5, on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2 p.m. The Town Hall Event will update Sumter County residents on work that will provide better broadband access to rural communities.

Charter Communications/Spectrum says the broadband improvements will help residents and businesses, which in turn helps to support economic development across Sumter County. Charter Communications has been working to expand broadband access in Sumter County via monies the County received from the American Rescue Plan Act. "Sumter County partnered with Charter Communications/Spectrum, using ARPA funds to expand broadband in rural areas," said Craig A. Estep, Chairman of the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners. "Hundreds of families now enjoy high-speed, reliable broadband access, with more to come as construction continues.

Charter Communications/Spectrum's back-to-school broadband town hall highlights its commitment to this progress, offering updates and showcasing digital opportunities for families and businesses. I am excited about the positive impact on our community and look forward to continued network expansion in Sumter County." In addition to information, attendees can receive backpacks and there will be a raffle for five laptops.
