UNESCO Hosts Memory of the World International Conference and 4th Global Policy Forum

Under the theme, "Memory of the World: At the crossroads of International Understanding and Cooperation", the event will emphasize the critical role of documentary heritage in fostering global collaboration, particularly during crisis.

The conference, coinciding with the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (commemorated on 27 October each year) will launch on 28 October with leaders, policymakers and experts gathering to discuss how documentary heritage serves as a valuable knowledge asset for deepening international understanding and cooperation.

Highlights of the first day include a keynote address by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue, Prof. Sir Nasser David Khalili, followed by a series of dynamic panels.

The event continues on 29 October with the 4th edition of the Global Policy Forum, titled "From Policy to Practice", focusing on practical methods to safeguard documentary heritage, shifting the focus from previous editions that emphasized on policy development. This edition will showcase the experiences and best practices of experts before, during and after natural or human-made crises, while exploring existing and potential mechanisms for cooperation.

Speakers will include representatives from National and Regional Committees Memory of the World Committees, key institutions and international organizations.
