'Ready for 2024? Register to Vote This National Voter Registration Day!

Today is National Voter Registration Day in the United States. Since its creation in 2012, nearly 5 million voters have registered on this holiday, including 1.5 million during the last presidential election in 2020.

National Voter Registration Day is all about making sure every eligible American has a voice in our democracy. Millions miss their chance to vote simply because they don't know how to register or forget to update their information. Whether it's moving, turning 18, or a name change, registering or updating your details only takes a few minutes-and today is the perfect day to do it.

Here are a few ways you can make sure every vote counts this election:

  1. Register or check your registration status at Vote.gov. Requirements vary by state, so select your state of residence. Even if you think you're already registered, it's worth checking-common life changes like a move or name change may require re-registration.

  2. Make a plan to vote. Each state has its own voting rules. Use today to decide when and how you'll vote, whether by mail, early voting, or in person on Election Day.

  3. Help a friend or family member new to voting. Offer them support and resources to register and make their voting plan.

  4. Sign up to be a poll worker. Power the Polls recruited over 700,000 potential poll workers in 2020 and over 250,000 in 2022. There's always a need for poll workers, and you can learn more by visiting helpamericavote.gov.

Here's how we're celebrating the civic holiday on Reddit:

Our elections are shaped by your vote. No matter where you are in the country, your voice matters. Make sure it counts-register today!
