Labor Economists Seth Harrington, Lisa Grigg and Brandon Duong will be joined by Research Supervisor Craig Shaul to discuss results from the second annual Idaho Business Climate survey, Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon MT via Zoom.

Idaho Department of Labor economists developed this survey to obtain "real-time" data within the state. Broad measures of national employment data are readily available and released quickly, but statewide data, if available, often lags by as long as one to three years.

Providing this information on an annual basis allows for a year-over-year comparison of Idaho's business climate from employers' point of view.

Below are some key insights included in last year's survey:

  • 56% of employers expected to gain workers over the next five years.
  • 54% of employers said labor, either high turnover or cost of workers, was their top business concern.
  • 44% of employers cited job switching as their main reason for labor turnover.
  • Idaho employers saw deficiencies in workers' soft skills and expected their need for these skills to grow.

All future webinars and registration event information can be found on the department's calendar of events.
