FARGO, N.D. - For the 20th consecutive year, Sanford Ambulance in Fargo has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) for its compliance with national standards of excellence. Accreditation is awarded every three years.

Sanford Ambulance is one of only 180 ambulance services in the country to successfully complete the voluntary review process, which included completion of a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services (EMS). With this achievement, Sanford Ambulance continues to be the only ambulance service to be accredited in the state of North Dakota and one of four ambulance services in Minnesota.

"Being awarded CAAS accreditation for 20 consecutive years is a big deal and validates Sanford Ambulance's commitment to patient care by maintaining the highest industry standards," said Tim Meyer, Sanford Ambulance senior director. "As the communities we serve continue to see incredible growth, Sanford Ambulance continues to go above and beyond to offer our region the critical emergency services they need. We could not achieve this accreditation without our incredible team, who work tirelessly and take immense pride in being able to serve our communities."

The Commission is a non-profit organization which was established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America's medical transportation system. The primary focus of the Commission's standards is high-quality patient care. This is accomplished by establishing national standards which not only addresses the delivery of patient care, but also the ambulance service's total operation and its relationships with other agencies, the general public, and the medical community. The Commission's standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements.

Sanford Ambulance has been serving the communities of West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead and Dilworth since 1959. In 2023, Sanford Ambulance responded to nearly 32,000 calls for service, with an average response time for ambulance taking 7:26.
