QUINCY, Mass. - A new National Park Service report shows that approximately 25,200 visitors to Adams National Historical Park in 2023 spent $1.1 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 21 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $2.6 million."

I'm so proud that our parks and the stories we tell make a lasting impact on more than 300 million visitors a year," said National Park Service Director Chuck Sams. "And I'm just as proud to see those visitors making positive impacts of their own, by supporting local economies and jobs in every state in the country."

Adams National Historical Park Superintendent Marianne Peak, while reflecting on the 2023 visitor season, was not surprised and certainly encouraged that historic house museums are a valued recreation of interest. Superintendent Peak stated, "The Adams story, the Presidency, the vast museum collection of historic artifacts that traverses over 4 generations of the Adams family from the early colonial times to the industrial age and some 90,000 objects of art and culture all contribute to education, history, government and civic engagement. We anticipate increasing our special events for 2025 to highlight Quincy's 400th Anniversary leading to the nation's commemoration of America's 250th in 2026." Superintendent Peak emphasized that partnership outreach, educational programs for youth, community events, lectures, partnership programs with local historical societies, youth organizations, and "the Church of the Presidents," the United First Parish Church, are being planned. In 2024, Adams National Historical Park welcomed the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and a hosted 200th anniversary event at Peace field reenacting a conversation with Marquis de Lafayette and President John Adams, events and programs that all contributed to park success and increased interest and economic benefit to the community.

The National Park Service report, 2023 National Park Visitor Spending Effects, finds that 325.5 million visitors spent $26.4 billion in communities near national parks. This spending supported 415,400 jobs, provided $19.4 billion in labor income and $55.6 in economic output to the U.S. economy. The lodging sector had the highest direct contributions with $9.9 billion in economic output and 89,200 jobs. The restaurants received the next greatest direct contributions with $5.2 billion in economic output and 68,600 jobs.
