Audacy’s “I’m Listening” Broadcast Shines a Light on Mental Health & The Power of Talk

Audacy's "I'm Listening" Broadcast Shines a Light on Mental Health & The Power of Talk

By Audacy Insights Team

Audacy, trusted companions and loyal friends to our listeners, deeply believes the power of talk saves lives.

At Audacy, we know that talk can be so much more than talk-it has the power to be life-changing. We've partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) for our 8th annual "I'm Listening" broadcast-to tackle mental health head-on, offering listeners a safe space to share their experiences and gain essential tools for mental wellness. The program encourages listeners to call in with their experiences, learn about mental wellness tools, and reinforces that mental health matters.

Why we talk about mental health

In a world where one in five adults live with mental illness but less than half receive treatment, open conversation can break the stigma. "I'm Listening" aims to normalize these discussions, helping people feel supported and understood.

During Mental Health Awareness month, Google searches around mental health-related topics surge. In fact, finding a mental health counselor is one of the top search terms. Simply talking about mental health more in our everyday life makes people more inclined to share their experiences and reach out when they need support. This is the essence of Audacy's "I'm Listening" broadcast. By giving airtime to mental health, we break down boundaries and share the lifesaving benefits of open communication.

Inside the "I'm Listening" broadcast

During this broadcast special, the air is shared by talented on-air personalities and esteemed medical professionals. You'll hear from:

  • Carson Daly, radio personality and co-host of NBC's "TODAY" and host of "The Voice"
  • Katie Neal, Audacy's nationally syndicated Country host
  • Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble, psychologist, author, scientist, and founder of the mental health nonprofit, The AAKOMA Project
  • Dr. Christine Yu Moutier, AFSP's Chief Medical Officer

These hosts will cover crucial topics-everything from adolescent mental health to postpartum depression, the effect of the election on our mental health, and resources for veterans. Listeners are invited to join in, sharing their stories and getting real advice from professionals.

As part of the broadcast, you'll hear:

  • Real stories from real people: Listeners will call in to share their experiences and stories.
  • Expert advice: Receive advice from mental health professionals on how to manage stress and promote mental wellness.
  • Reassurances that you're not alone: This broadcast is a safe space to learn more about mental health, heal, and connect with others who've been through similar situations.
