Amata Highlights Opportunity for Pacific Women Entrepreneurs from Neighboring Countries

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has put out a call for applications, due September 30^th of this year, for the next cycle of the WIPO Training, Mentoring, and Matchmaking Program on Intellectual Property for Women Entrepreneurs from Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

This opportunity is available to 24 women entrepreneurs from Fiji, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tongo, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Training in a practical workshop on topics such as intellectual property rights, business modeling and digital storytelling, will take place in Sydney, Australia, from March 24 to 28, 2025, followed by a year of mentoring and business matchmaking.

"I'm happy to help get the word out to women entrepreneurs throughout the Pacific Islands that could benefit from this program, including those in our closest neighbor Samoa and the three states in free association with the U.S.," said Congresswoman Aumua Amata. "While this specific program is not for the U.S. territories, we support each other in pursuit of economic growth efforts throughout the islands, and uplifting entrepreneurs can benefit the whole region."
