Sky-high success: oneworld named Global Traveler’s Best Airline Alliance for 15th consecutive year

oneworld® has once again piloted its way to success, named 'Best Airline Alliance' by Global Traveler at an award ceremony last night.

This win marks the 15th consecutive year the alliance has taken home the trophy, as customers from around the world continue to praise oneworld's high levels of service and convenience across more than 900 destinations worldwide.

The prestigious accolade, announced during the 21st annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards, reinforced oneworld's position as the most preferred alliance among frequent flyers, as the alliance comes to the end of its celebratory 25th anniversary year.

Yesterday's award ceremony, hosted at L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, saw Maria McKinnon, oneworld's Head of Global Brand, Marketing and Loyalty, collect the award on behalf of the alliance.

The annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards are a highly respected and unbiased reflection of the best in travel, based solely on reader votes. The comprehensive survey honours airlines, hotels, loyalty programmes and travel-related products.

oneworld member airlines were praised throughout the evening, winning a combined total of eight awards.

UK based flag carrier, British Airways, were named as the 'Best Trans-Atlantic Airline', while fellow oneworld founding member, Cathay Pacific, took home trophies for 'Best Airline for International First Class' and 'Best Airline for Business Class Seat Design'. The premium carrier was also named as the 'Best Trans-Pacific Airline' for the second consecutive year.

Japan Airlines continued to soar, winning the award for 'Best Airline to Japan' for the fourth consecutive year, while it was also crowned the 'Fastest Growing Airline, Trans-Pacific'. Doha-based Qatar Airways was also awarded 'Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness', with Royal Air Maroc taking the title of 'Best Airline in Africa' for the second year running.

Maria McKinnonsaid: "As we come to the end of our biggest year so far, it is an incredible honour to have been named 'Best Airline Alliance' by the readers of Global Traveler.

"To receive this award once would be an amazing achievement, but to take home the trophy for 15 consecutive years is testament to the whole oneworld team and every single member airline.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the over 500 million customers who choose to fly with oneworld member airlines annually, as we owe our success to them."

This achievement means oneworld has taken home a trio of top awards in the past month, having also been named 'Best Airline Alliance' by leading travel magazines Business Traveller UK and Business Traveler US.

The winning streak comes as the leading airline alliance comes to the end of its 25th anniversary year, with oneworld having continued to raise the bar in premium air travel by opening its first-ever branded lounges in Amsterdam's Schiphol and Seoul's Incheon airports.
