Eastbound Route 40 National Pike Overnight Closures Begin This Weekend in Washington County

​Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing overnight closures on eastbound Route 40 (National Pike) will begin this Sunday, October 6, between PA Turnpike Route 43 and Route 88, in Centerville, California, and West Brownsville boroughs, Washington County.

Overnight closures on eastbound Route 40 (National Pike) will occur as follows:

  • Sunday, October 6 at 6:00 PM through Monday, October 7 at 6:00 AM

  • Monday, October 7 at 6:00 PM through Tuesday, October 8 at 6:00 AM

  • Tuesday, October 8 at 6:00 PM through Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 AM

  • Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 PM through Thursday, October 10 at 6:00 AM

The ramp from northbound PA Turnpike Route 43 to eastbound Route 40 (National Pike) Exit 30A will also be closed.

A posted detour will be in place utilizing PA Turnpike Route 43, Route 2073 (Malden Road), and Route 88.​

Additional traffic impacts will include:

  • A single-lane restriction on westbound Route 40 (National Pike), as needed.

  • A single-lane restriction on Route 2079 (Knob Road) between Route 2073 (Malden Road) and Route 2048 (Old National Pike).

  • A daylight, 12-foot width restriction in each direction of Route 40 (National Pike) between Route 2073 (Malden Road) and Route 88, as needed.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction, Inc. will be conducting emergency repairs - necessitated by a July 31 bridge strike - on the structure that carries Route 2079 (Knob Road) over Route 40 (National Pike). Work is anticipated through late October/early November. All work depends on weather and operations.
