Fire Commissioner Tucker Presides at Graduation Ceremony for 89 Probationary Emergency Medical Technicians

Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker will preside over a graduation ceremony for 89 Probationary Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on Tuesday, September 24, at 10 a.m. at Christian Cultural Center, 12020 Flatlands Ave, Brooklyn. The ceremony can be viewed live on the Department's website at www.nyc.gov/FDNY or HERE.

The Probationary EMTs trained for 18 weeks at the EMS Academy. The class includes three veterans from the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

During their time at the Academy, they trained in skills that include CPR; patient medical and trauma assessments; oxygen and ventilation skills; management of hypotension and fractures; and spinal immobilization and emergency childbirth; and emergency vehicle operation.

The new EMTs will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
