Hey, Fort Worth! Did you know that our city runs a fantastic school crossing guard program?
That's right! Administered by the awesome team at the Transportation & Public Works (TPW) Department, this program ensures our little scholars get to school safely.
Covering 15 districts, these dedicated crossing guards are there during busy drop-off and pickup times throughout the school year and even during summer school when needed.
If you're a public, private or charter elementary or middle school within Fort Worth city limits, you can easily request crossing guard services.
It's super easy. Just hop online and fill out a form.
With the new academic year on the horizon, TPW is ready to roll out the red carpet (or, rather, the safe crosswalks) for our students.
The "Crosswalk Champions" initiative is all about making sure kids have safe and fun routes to school.
Walking and biking to school? Yes, please!
Safety first!
A huge part of Crosswalk Champions is making sure everyone knows how to stay safe. TPW has a "Motorist and Pedestrian Crossing Beacon Guide" to help everyone use the crossing beacons correctly. Safety is key!
National Walk to School Day
Mark your calendars for Oct. 2. It's National Walk to School Day, and TPW is inviting students, parents, school staff and community members to join in a morning walk to school.
Let's make it a day to remember!
TPW has important messages that will remind everyone to:
Here's to keeping it safe and stylish!
To ensure our kids know all about pedestrian and bicycle safety, TPW plans to hold fun safety assemblies and interactive presentations at schools.
Learning about safety has never been so engaging!
So, Fort Worth, let's get ready for a safe and exciting school year. With our dedicated crossing guards and the Crosswalk Champions campaign, our kids are in great hands!
