State Farm Donates Smoke Detectors to Corpus Christi Fire Department

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, the Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) received a donation of smoke detectors from State Farm Insurance. This contribution underscores the importance of fire safety and the critical role smoke alarms play in protecting lives and property.

Smoke alarms are essential for home safety. They detect small particles in the air and trigger an alert, allowing residents to evacuate quickly and contact emergency services. These devices dramatically increase the chances of survival in a fire.

"On average, a person has 2 minutes to escape from a burning home. Smoke detectors provide critical early warning to allow time to escape" said Fire Marshal Randy Paige. "Working smoke detectors in each bedroom and hallway leading to bedrooms is essential."

Homeowners in Corpus Christi will have access to the donated smoke detectors while supplies last. Residents renting a house or living in an apartment can request smoke alarms through their property management companies.

Residents who would like to request a smoke alarm can contact 3-1-1.
