The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden Charlotte Sammelin and welcomed her to our country, where she is starting her mandate as Ambassador.
In the conversation, Brnabic pointed out that the bilateral relations between Serbia and Sweden are good and stable, still there is significant potential for their additional improvement in numerous areas of mutual importance. She also said that Sweden is one of our country's most important Scandinavian partners, which is why we are determined to further intensify our political dialogue at all levels.
The Speaker said that she is committed to the full implementation of ODIHR recommendations and advice and obligations from the European Commission Report, as well as strengthening parliamentary diplomacy through visits at all levels, and underlined that our country is interested in strengthening parliamentary dialogue and cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden. She added that Serbia remains firmly committed to its path to the EU, as well as to the path of stability and progress of the Western Balkans, and that a stable and prosperous region is vital for everyone's success, Serbia included.
Ambassador Sammelin underlined the importance of joint action, especially in the field of economy, digitisation, as well as encouraging the Serbian diaspora in Sweden to exchange experiences with people in Serbia. She expressed her interest in having the Serbian Parliament Speaker visit Sweden in the coming period.
The officials also underlined the satisfaction with and importance of the fact that the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Sweden have opened the first Healthcare Academy in Belgrade at the beginning of the month, focused on breast cancer prevention.
