Charging Smart Expands to Connecticut and Louisiana

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) is thrilled to announce the expansion of our Charging Smart program into two new states: Connecticut and Louisiana! Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Charging Smart is a technical assistance and designation program aims to remove barriers to electric vehicle (EV) adoption in communities throughout the country, supporting benefits including economic development, cleaner air, and lower emissions.

Our partners - Clean Transportation Communities of Southern Connecticut, Connecticut Southwestern Area Clean Cities Coalition, and Louisiana Clean Fuels - are on hand to provide personalized, no-cost technical assistance (TA). This TA helps local governments align their policies with national best practices to facilitate the equitable expansion of EVs. Upon achieving certain criteria, your local government can earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold designation, providing national recognition for your hard work and a public statement that your community is open to EVs and EV investment.

Join us today! Along with Connecticut and Louisiana, Charging Smart is currently active in the states of Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, and Virginia, along with the regions of North Texas, Northern Illinois, and Southern California. Not in one of those areas? Don't worry - the program will be expanding nationwide soon.
