Centennial Earns Metro Vision Award for Livable Streets Program

Published on September 03, 2024

The City of Centennial has been awarded the distinguishable Metro Vision Award for the City's Livable Streets Program by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). Centennial's Livable Streets Residential Collector and Right-Sizing Roadway Program was one of eight Metro Vision Award recipients. This prestigious award highlights our commitment to excellence, innovation, and collaboration in creating safer, more accessible streets for everyone.

Over the past two years, we've piloted and advanced this program, transforming residential collector roadways with enhancements like pavement markings and pedestrian pushbutton-activated Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs). These changes aim to calm traffic, increase comfort for all roadway users, and offer more mode choices, all while maintaining safety and efficiency. "The City is honored to receive this award. Centennial is consistently looking for ways to improve or enhance our roadways to provide a safe, efficient and reliable transportation network," says Mayor Stephanie Piko.

Hosted by DRCOG, the 2024 Metro Vision Awards recognizes community projects and plans for excellence, innovation, collaboration, and leadership in problem-solving among communities and their partners.
