OROVILLE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN WALMART PARKING LOT SHOOTING

Oroville, CA- On Monday, November 11, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Oroville Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the Walmart parking lot on Cal Oak Road. Upon notification, officers were promptly dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

Responding officers immediately began a thorough search of the area for potential victims, witnesses, and physical evidence; through this process, officers were able to confirm that a shooting did occur. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.

Surveillance footage from the area was recovered and reviewed to better understand the events. Additionally, officers utilized additional technology to identify and locate a vehicle involved in the incident, including capturing the license plate number. That evening, the Oroville Police Department's Investigations Unit obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence on Skipper Court, leading to two arrests.

A 16-year-old Oroville resident was taken into custody for the unlawful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner (California Penal Code 246.3(a)) and assault with a deadly weapon (California Penal Code 245 (a) (2)). In addition, 60-year-old Theresa Alexander of Oroville was arrested as an accessory (California Penal Code 32).
