KBR Honors International Day of Charity

The International Day of Charity is observed annually on September 5, following its declaration by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. This year, KBR is proud to highlight the 11 charities that will benefit from the 2024 Charity Golf Tournament. In its 18th year, the tournament is organized by a group of KBR's early career professionals.

Since 2007, KBR has donated nearly $22 million to charitable causes globally. The KBR Charity Golf Tournament plays a crucial role in these efforts, having raised $10.4 million for numerous worthy organizations. KBR is honored to support this year's charity recipients and commends them for their invaluable work in our communities.

Camp For All

Camp For All offers transformative, barrier-free experiences for individuals with illnesses or disabilities. By partnering with over 65 nonprofit organizations, the camp promotes inclusivity and has positively impacted over 185,000 campers since 1998. Each year, thousands benefit from its unique environment, meticulously designed to level the playing field, fostering empowerment and support for everyone involved, making it a haven of inclusivity and personal growth.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is dedicated to advancing cures and preventive measures for pediatric catastrophic diseases through innovative research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

Houston Wilderness

Houston Wilderness partners with businesses, environmental groups, and government entities to protect and promote the 10 diverse ecoregions surrounding Houston, Galveston Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico. They engage the community through large-scale environmental policy initiatives and programs, including the Gulf-Houston Regional Conservation Plan, Monarch habitat restoration, and collaborative grant efforts, fostering conservation and awareness across the Greater Houston area.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation's mission is to honor the nation's defenders by providing children in need of assistance with access to higher education. As the oldest and largest provider of military need-based scholarships, the fund passionately believes that education is a powerful equalizer, accessible to all, regardless of race or ethnicity.

St. Baldrick's Foundation

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The foundation backs research efforts in 13 cities across Texas, including three prominent research institutions in Houston.

PTSD Foundation of America

The mission of the PTSD Foundation of America is to bring hope and healing to combat veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related post-traumatic stress. The foundation attempts to bring healing by directly providing evidence-based, peer-to-peer mentoring, both on an individual basis and in group settings.

Chester Pitts Foundation

The Chester Pitts Foundation is committed to investing in families by empowering youth to develop self-discipline, self-esteem, and self-confidence through arts education and enrichment. The foundation fosters arts programs that inspire youth, encouraging them to set and achieve their academic and physical goals.

The Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPAL)

GHPAL's mission is to reduce juvenile crime and violence through 'Relational Policing,' fostering trust between youth, law enforcement, and the community. Catering to members aged 8 to 18, the program offers mentorship (individual or group), along with athletic, enrichment, civic/service projects, recreational, and educational opportunities throughout Houston. GHPAL collaborates with various community partners and school districts to fulfill its mission and provides program presentations and project assistance upon request, as available.

Houston Fire Department's Official Charity Houston Fire Fighters Foundation

KBR proudly supports the Houston Fire Fighters Foundation and their initiative, Operation Stocking Stuffer (OSS). OSS is the Houston Fire Department's annual holiday toy drive, recognized as one of the largest community outreach programs of its kind. The initiative began over 30 years ago with Ms. Lorugene Young (1943-2017), a Houston-area teacher who aimed to provide Christmas gifts to her students and other disadvantaged children. Initially, she collected and distributed used toys from the trunk of her car. Recognizing the growing community need, Ms. Young later partnered with the Houston Fire Department to use fire stations as collection points for the program.
