Track removal and paving to close Business Loop 70 in Columbia…

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Crews from the city of Columbia and the Missouri Department of Transportation are partnering to make the drive on Business Loop 70 in Columbia smoother for motorists. The city of Columbia will remove the old railroad tracks that are no longer in use near the power plant, then crews from MoDOT will place concrete pavement in that area. Later this summer, Business Loop 70 will be resurfaced, including this area.

For the safety of the crews and motorists, Business Loop 70 will close to all traffic between Edison Street and Bowling Street at approximately 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9. The roadway will remain closed around-the-clock until all work is completed, and the concrete has cured. It is expected that all work can be completed in two days and the road will reopen by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10. During the closure, motorists will need to use an alternate route.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones.
