DOE Voluntary Protection Program Workshop at the Voluntary Protection Program Participants’ Association Safety+ Symposium

The U.S. Department of Energy Voluntary Protection Program (DOE-VPP) Team from the Office of Worker Safety and Health Assistance (EHSS-12) will be hosting a Department of Energy Pre-Conference Workshop at the annual Voluntary Protection Program Participants' Association Safety+ Symposium on August 25, 2024.

The Safety+ Symposium will take place August 25-28, 2024, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Conference Center in Aurora, Colorado and it is open to a wide range of professionals to include safety managers, industrial hygienists, environmental specialists, and others committed to creating safer and healthier work environments and it serves as a forum for sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and promoting the best safety and health policies in workplaces. The event offers many engaging seminars and workshops on a variety of topics in addition to an exposition where new and relevant technologies and products will be demonstrated.

The pre-conference workshop will feature numerous speakers from a variety of DOE sites:

  • United Cleanup Oak Ridge, LLC (UCOR) - The Importance of Emergency Contact Information for First Responders
  • Triad National Security, LLC - Why We Are Safe: The 1972 Plane Crash that made a Safety-Related Impact on a Los Alamos, New Mexico family for Generations
  • Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC - Bridging the Gap by Passing the Baton: SRS the Safe Way
  • Washington River Protection Solutions, LLC & Central Plateau Cleanup Company, LLC (CPCCo) - Electric Vehicles: Emergency Management and Environmental Considerations
  • UCOR - Going Above & Beyond to Create a Best in Class Fall Protection Program
  • CPCCo - Bridging the Gap with the Next Generation Workforce: Back to Basics
  • Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC - Production Operations Safety Team

In addition, the DOE-VPP team will hand out awards to representatives of the highest performing programs. These include the Star of Excellence award, Superior Star award, and Contractor Champion award. These awards serve to recognize the high level of dedication and commitment to the principles of VPP and the achievement of continued outstanding performance in meeting established safety and health goals.
