Big Tent Day Returns to Rogers State University August 21

RSU will be hosting local companies, organizations, industries, and groups at the 2024 Big Tent Day event Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Slated from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center on the RSU campus in Claremore, this event is free to students and participating businesses and exhibitors.

Hosted by RSU Student Activities, Big Tent Day is an opportunity for incoming Rogers State Students to meet with representatives from numerous Claremore and Rogers County-based organizations and vice-versa. Campus departments and groups also will be participating in this event, during which they will highlight their degree options, offer information about student organizations, student employment opportunities, offer helpful student resources, and much more.

"Big Tent Day is always held at the beginning of the new (academic) year to help our new students connect to and build relationships with local businesses and organizations," said Barry Clark, career services coordinator with RSU's Office of Student Affairs. "Similarly, these same business and organizations - we're going to have more than 100 of them this year - are given the opportunity to engage with our students in a positive, mutually beneficial way."

Clark said this annual back-to-school event is an invaluable opportunity for new students to get important information and learn about available resources which will help acclimate them to RSU and the overall university experience.

"Something new to Big Tent Day will be the inclusion of several inflatables, so it's going to be a lot of fun as well as informative for the students," he said. "We're expecting about 750 students to come out to learn about the many resources available to them from Claremore and Rogers County businesses and groups."

Complimentary T-shirts, food, beverages, school supplies and more will be available at this event.

Bit Tent Day is part of RSU's annual Welcome Week Activities, scheduled for Aug. 19-23.
