On November 28, 2024, State Police members arrested Tyler Bates, age 33, of Gouverneur, NY, for DWI: previous conviction and obstruction of government administration 2nd.
On November 28, 2024, at approximately 12:13 a.m., Troopers observed a 2007 Chevrolet vehicle violate a vehicle and traffic law. The Troopers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle then quickly pulled into a driveway, and the operator exited the vehicle immediately. The Troopers approached the operator and started interviewing him, which led to the operator attempting to flee on foot, but the Trooper was able to catch and detain the operator. The operator was identified as Bates.
Bates was arrested and transported to SP Gouverneur. At the station, Bates refused SFSTs but provided a breath sample, resulting in a positive breath test of .17% BAC.
Due to having previous convictions, Bates was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court, where he was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
