The Marquette University Telehealth Accelerator announced the awarding of three grants, each worth up to $20,000, to faculty members pursuing projects that advance telehealth.

This year's grants were given to partnerships between Marquette faculty and researchers from other institutions, including Howard University and Ascension.

The awardees are as follows:

  • Zebadia Boos, Dr. Dan Pinto, Dr. Iqbal Ahamad and Dr. Lutfiyya Muhammad: "The Establishing Remote Assessment of Strength (ERAS) Study"
  • Dr. Iqbal Ahamad, Dr. Stacee Lerret, Dr. Susan Solmos, Cynthia LaFond, Dr. Vallire Hooper, Ellita Williams and Dr. Samuel Nwafor: "STAGE (Skin Tone Assessment for Greater Equity) Telehealth"
  • Emily Cramer, Dr. Jae Eun Chung, Dr. Stacee Lerret, Ben Lund, Alisa Hughley and Fangqi Zhao: "A Telehealth Launch Point: Capacity Building for Postpartum Preeclampsia Management Using CBPR-Derived Frames for Social Media Engagement"

In 2021, a $1.5 million start-up grant to the College of Nursing from a private family foundation launched the interdisciplinary Telehealth Accelerator, focused on student and provider education, educational development, research and innovation generation, and patient-centered support, with an overarching goal of supporting virtual Cura Personalis, where access to and equity within healthcare are enhanced.

Marquette's Telehealth Research Community, associated with the Telehealth Accelerator, unites researchers and practitioners across disciplines to engage students, staff, faculty and the local community. The TRC provides an opportunity to expand and promote the usefulness and accessibility of telehealth as a resource.

Marquette faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to join the TRC. For more information, click here.
