St. Albert RCMP Investigate Stabbing - UPDATED

On July 18, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., St. Albert RCMP was dispatched to a complaint of a male hurting a female at a residence. Upon arrival, two females, aged 13 and 17, were located inside the residence with multiple stab wounds. Investigation revealed that the person believed to be responsible was Kaj Randall. Randall was known to the victim's.

A warrant of arrest was issued for Randall, and in the early morning hours of July 20, 2024, he was located and arrested in Edmonton by officers of the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and transported to the St. Albert Detachment with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service.

In the late afternoon on July 20, 2024, the 17-year-old victim succumbed to her injuries in hospital. The charges against Kaj Randall have been upgraded to First Degree Murder.

RCMP send deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Randall was remanded into custody and will appear in Albert Court of Justice in St. Albert on July 22, 2024.

St. Albert RCMP advise that Kaj Randall has been arrested and is in custody. He was arrested in Edmonton with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service.

He is awaiting a bail hearing. An update will be sent later today with the results of that hearing.

St. Albert RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating the wanted male, 28-year-old Kaj Alexander Randall, in relation to the stabbing of two female youths, one of which is in critical condition. Kaj is wanted for attempted murder. Kaj is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Kaj is described as:

  • Fair complexion
  • 6 feet 4 inches tall and 190 pounds
  • Brown hair and blue eyes

Kaj fled the scene in a 2010 Grey Mazda 3S, bearing AB Licence Plate CRN 1498.

On July 18, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm, St. Albert RCMP responded to a residence in Riverside regarding an assault that had occurred. When RCMP members arrived, they located a 17-year-old female and a 13-year-old female, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the females to an Edmonton hospital.

St. Albert RCMP is in the early stages of its investigation but wants to assure the community that this was an isolated incident and that all individuals are known to each other.
