DLA CENTCOM & SOCOM team visits DLA Disposition Services and DLA Land and Maritime

BATTLE CREEK, Michigan -

A team from the Defense Logistics Agency's regional command for U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command got an orientation directly from DLA Disposition Services and DLA Land and Maritime on a visit to their respective headquarters July 15-19.

DLA CENTCOM & SOCOM Commander Army Col. Michelle Agpalza, Chief the CENTCOM Support Branch Stanton Olsen and members of the staff charged with supporting two combatant commands to travel to two of the agency's major subordinate commands to grow their knowledge of mission capabilities, processes and procedures while establishing new and reinforcing existing relationships.

DLA Disposition Services incorporated Agpalza's team into their daily battle rhythm and provided a "Disposition Services 101" briefing. During focused discussions with DLA Disposition Services Director Michael Cannon, Agpalza and her team shared their perspective on the current and future CENTCOM operations and how DLA's posture may change to optimize support to the warfighter. The focused interaction highlighted the need for a forum to discuss hazardous waste within the area of responsibility, with a commitment to hold a hazardous waste summit in the near future.

While at DLA Land and Maritime, Agpalza's team received orientation briefings from customer-facing divisions that reinforced the understanding of the organization's structure and processes. The engagements allowed for the identification of procedural gaps and opportunities to improve the coordination between DLA's Land and Maritime and CENTCOM & SOCOM staffs.

To show her appreciation for the outstanding support to the warfighter, Agpalza presented coins to three DLA Land and Maritime members for direct support to the DLA CENTCOM & SOCOM mission.

Agpalza said believes that the orientation for the DLA CENTCOM & SOCOM team was a complete success and provided knowledge and perspective to all participants from her staff to the members of the MSCs. The engagement highlighted the need to continue to educate and train DLA members to processes and procedures while highlighting the importance of forging strong relationships to better serve the warfighter.
