VFS program highlights academic institutions committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) has recognized 62 exceptional universities, colleges and trade schools for their unwavering dedication to improving experiences for military-connected learners and to fostering innovation in support of veterans. More information about the MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) program and the institutions honored for 2024 is available on the MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) dashboard.

"We are proud to recognize these 62 veteran-friendly learning institutions for their exemplary commitment to supporting and empowering military-connected learners," said Brian L. Love, director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. "Their dedication and efforts play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for veterans and service members, and we are grateful for their ongoing support."

The VFS program, created in 2015-16, recognizes academic institutions committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students. These institutions are awarded Gold-, Silver-, and Bronze-level status based on their veteran-centric services and programs. For 2024, 44 institutions received Gold status and, for the first time, a beauty school was accepted into the program.
