Meeting of the Maritime Board of Russia

The agenda covered the board's key priorities as defined by the President. The participants stressed that the Maritime Board's core mission is to serve as a focal point for federal and regional executive agencies on matters dealing with national maritime policies.

They went on to point out that the initiative to establish the Maritime Board resulted from, among other things, the need to bring the public administration of maritime affairs to a new level in view of the growing geopolitical tension and the unprecedented sanctions pressure Russia is facing.

The board members paid special attention to maritime activities aimed at promoting socioeconomic development for the country as a whole and its coastal regions, as well as expanding foreign economic ties.

In addition, they discussed ways to ensure stability in the World Ocean and defend Russia's national interests in the Arctic. The agenda also touched upon domestic shipbuilding, developing ports and improving connectivity between seaports, inland waterways and international transport corridors.

Established per Presidential Executive Order No 691 of August 13, 2024, the Maritime Board is tasked with implementing national maritime policies, defending the national interests of the Russian Federation and strengthening its defence capabilities in the World Ocean.
