In Chicago, Duckworth Highlights Illinois's Strength as a Manufacturing Leader

[CHICAGO, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today toured NuMat Technologies, Inc.'s manufacturing site in Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood, meeting with leaders to learn more about the Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) manufactured by NuMat and how this technology can benefit our servicemembers and first responders. Today's tour follows the Senator's meeting yesterday with Jungham Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago, where they discussed the importance of South Korea's relationship with Illinois and how well-positioned Illinois is for future investments that would bring more jobs and economic growth to our state.

"Illinois is a hub of agriculture, manufacturing, transportation and technology, making our state ideally positioned for growth in all of these sectors," Duckworth said. "As a member of both the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I'm committed to both growing our domestic defense manufacturing sector and promoting Illinois on a global level. Illinois is ready to help bring our world into the future-and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure the whole world knows it."

Duckworth is a proven leader on strengthening our relations with international partners while successfully securing significant international investments in Illinois. This year alone Duckworth has led official Senate visits to Vietnam, Laos, Taiwan, Sweden and the Netherlands to meet with government, trade and economic leaders and corporate and business officials to highlight how Illinois is uniquely positioned for greater investment and increased exports with international partners.

Duckworth, a combat Veteran who served in the Reserve Forces for 23 years, is also a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC). As a member of SASC, Duckworth has made restoring American competitiveness one of her core goals, securing a number of provisions in this year's committee-passed National Defense Authorization Act.
