Borussia Dortmund have notched up a win in their first preseason friendly: BVB ran out 7-1 (2-1) winners against the DEW21 dream team on Friday. Nmecha (2), Moukoko (2), Kabar, Azhil and Brunner scored the goals for the Black & Yellows.

As in previous years, the first friendly of preseason took place in the immediate vicinity of Dortmund. This time, the BVB first team travelled to neighbouring Holzwickede, where they met a team made up of amateur players and influencers from Dortmund as part of the DEW21 Dream Match. More than 1000 players applied to Champion Partner DEW21 to take part in the exhibition match with a colourful supporting programme. In three taster training sessions, 32 players were selected to play in the match against BVB (16 players per half).

As the international players are still on holiday, the BVB squad was supplemented by players from the U23 and U19 squads, as in the training sessions. The first team had only started their preparations on Wednesday with performance diagnostics, and they took to the training pitch for the first time on Thursday.

In front of 5,000 spectators in the sold-out Montanhydraulik Stadion, the Black & Yellows racked up the chances early on, and Felix Nmecha quickly put BVB 2-0 ahead with a brace: in the fifth minute, the midfielder only had to slot home from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens' pass, and two minutes later, he increased the lead with a beautiful strike into the corner of the goal. BVB had further good chances through Bynoe-Gittens (4/14) and Ryerson (10). But the next goal was scored by the dream team when Sezer Toy was able to capitalise on a defensive error to make it 2-1 (15). The amateur players seemed to have overcome their initial nervousness, as BVB were no longer able to create chances so easily. Nmecha tried his luck with a long-range shot after 09 minutes, and the midfielder then narrowly missed with a header in the 29th minute. Almost on the stroke of half-time, Julian Brandt forced goalkeeper Acil into a save with a free-kick.

Coach Nuri Sahin subbed out his entire team for the second half, but that couldn't prevent BVB from creating further chances. Paris Brunner was initially denied twice in quick succession (52/58). Seven minutes later, Almugera Kabar scored from a corner to make it 3-1. before Youssoufa Moukoko netted twice to make it 4-1 (76) and then 6-1 (83). Ayman Azhil had made it 5-1 in the meantime (78'). Brunner scored the final goal in the 89th minute to bring the final score to 7-1 in favour of BVB.
