Crime Drops Across St. Charles County

Police across St. Charles County report major crime categories have fallen significantly this year.

But with the crime-prone holiday season here, residents are asked to stay alert.

The most recent crime statistics (as of late November) from all law enforcement within the county show:

20 robberies

324 aggravated assaults

27 rapes

4 murders

That's on track to be lower than 2023's numbers:

  • 39 robberies
  • 475 aggravated assaults
  • 44 rapes
  • 7 murders

Another high-risk area, vehicle-related crime, is also trending downward, with 262 stolen vehicles and 209 items taken from vehicles so far this year-compared to 397 stolen vehicles and 429 items taken from vehicles by the end of last year.

But the remainder of the year can be one of the busiest times for local police, who tend to see a rise in thefts and personal violence during the holiday season.

That's why officers are encouraging citizens to help keep their community safe from crime by reporting suspicious activity to St. Charles County Crime Stoppers, a local nonprofit that collects crime-related tips on behalf of participating police agencies.

Tips to Crime Stoppers have led to arrests for drug trafficking, human trafficking, serial burglary, and other crimes. Crime Stoppers provides monetary rewards for tips leading to arrests-paid for by community donations and fundraisers.

Participating police departments include St. Charles County, Cottleville, Foristell, O'Fallon, Lake Saint Louis, St. Charles City, St. Peters, Wentzville, and the St. Charles Community College Department of Public Safety.

Crime Stoppers tips can be made anonymously by submitting a form online or calling the hotline at 636-949-3333. Learn more about the program.
