Updated information on possible drone fragments fallen on Romanian territory

Over the last days, mixed teams of specialists of the Ministry of National Defence and other specialized structures within the National Defence, Public Order and National Security System, continued the investigations in the field in search of possible drone fragments that fell last week on the Romanian bank of the Danube, as a result of the attacks conducted by the Russian forces against certain civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine.

All the areas where the possibility of falling fragments of drones was reported were looked into, the authorities identifying, up to this moment, such elements in the proximity of Plauru and Periprava Localities, Tulcea County.

On Wednesday, July 31st, drone fragments were also confirmed in the area of Ceatalchioi, Tulcea County. Standard operating procedures for such situations have been implemented.

The investigations in the field did not confirm the presence of fallen drone fragments in other areas of incidence referred to in the media, such as Niculitel or Chilia.

We make it clear that all the locations identified as areas of incidence are outside inhabited areas, and people or infrastructure elements have not been affected.

The Ministry of National Defence has informed and keeps the allied structures informed in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, remaining in permanent contact with them.

We also reiterate the strong message of condemnation of the attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain Ukrainian facilities and civil infrastructure elements, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with the norms of international law.
