Bellevue and neighboring cities celebrate Welcoming Week

Published September 9 2024

In celebration of Welcoming Week, Bellevue and other Eastside cities and community organizations are hosting several events during and around the week of Sept. 13-22.

Welcoming Week is a national, annual celebration bringing together neighbors of all backgrounds to affirm inclusion for everyone in the United States, particularly those who are the country's newest residents.

East King County has been celebrating Welcoming Week since 2016 with events hosted by local nonprofits, neighborhood associations, the King County Library System and the cities of Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Redmond and Sammamish. Eastside for All is the hub for Eastside Welcoming Week and hosts a calendar of events.

The City of Bellevue is committed to creating welcoming and inclusive places where everyone can prosper together. The mayors of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish will issue a joint proclamation inviting the community to connect across differences at Welcoming Week events.

Events

The Bellevue Diversity Advisory Network (BDAN), which advises the city on how to best serve its diverse communities, is cohosting a resource fair on Saturday, Sept. 21, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Crossroads Bellevue shopping mall. The event will feature workforce and business assistance resources.

Eastside for All is partnering with the city's Cross-Cultural Center Without Walls program to offer Beyond Engagement: Leading Together in Communities on Friday, Sept. 20. Attendees can learn about inclusive, cross-cultural community engagement. Other Welcoming Week programming, including events at the city's community centers, can be found at the city's Eastside Welcoming Week page.
