Advantech and SEVENSTAX Partner to Offer Scalable, Future-Proof EV Charging Solutions Compliant with ISO15118 Standards

Taipei, Taiwan, October 15, 2024- Advantech, a global leader in AIoT and Edge Computing is pleased to announce its cooperation with SEVENSTAX, a leading innovator in IoT. Together, they will integrate communication technologies, including DIN/ISO standard V2G software solutions (ISO15118, DIN70121). This strong partnership aims to provide unified, scalable hardware and software solutions that expedite EV charger development while reducing the total cost of ownership for customers.

SEVENSTAX is a leading expert in embedded Internet protocol stacks and applications. For over 20 years, their team has been at the forefront of software development, specializing in creating complex systems that meet the highest standards of security and reliability while maintaining cost efficiency.

ISO15118 is a crucial protocol that governs communication between EV chargers and vehicles, enabling features like Plug & Charge and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G). It also plays a key role in the future of V2H, V2B, and V2X applications. SEVENSTAX has extensive expertise in this area and provides reliable, scalable, portable, and upgradable software stacks that can run on MCUs, MPUs, SoCs, various PLC chips, and different operating systems or even bare-metal. Additionally, SEVENSTAX provides a range of tools to accelerate development, including simulation equipment, analysis solutions, conformance testers, and PKI solutions.

To tackle the rising costs of EV charging infrastructure and improve ROI, Advantech provides a variety of platforms, including x86 and Arm-based solutions, with integrated features like powerline communication (PLC). These platforms can run on Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu, or Yocto, tailored to meet specific project requirements. Additionally, to address cybersecurity concerns when EV chargers connect to remote management systems, Advantech provides a comprehensive security solution covering hardware, firmware, and software layers, ensuring compliance with IEC62443 standards for verification of conformity (VoC).

In partnership with SEVENSTAX, we are dedicated to delivering consistent ISO15118 stacks for both the AFE-E420 EVSE controller, based on NXP i.MX93 running Yocto, and the AFE-E350, based on Intel x6000E running Ubuntu. The evaluation version, which includes source code, API, and design documents, enables customers to easily test and integrate these solutions with their existing EV charger systems. Customers will benefit from seamless, scalable hardware and software solutions, simplifying system development and enabling the design of future-proof EV chargers and systems.
