Alpharetta Welcomes Charlie Jewell as New Director of Economic Development

The City of Alpharetta is excited to announce the appointment of Charlie Jewell as the new Director of Economic Development. With over 16 years of experience driving economic growth at local, regional, and university levels, Jewell brings an exceptional track record of leadership, innovation, and strategic vision to the city.

Prior to joining Alpharetta, Jewell served as the Director of Economic Development and Community Engagement at Radford University, where he led numerous initiatives to strengthen the university's economic ties with local businesses and partners. Notably, he developed plans to launch a coworking space and a regional testing center at The HUB at Radford University for Economic Development. His tenure at Radford University was preceded by significant leadership positions, including that of Managing Director at the Site Selectors Guild and Executive Director at Onward New River Valley. Jewell's commitment to connecting talent with opportunity, along with his experience in securing grants and supporting community growth, makes him a valuable addition to Alpharetta's leadership team.

Jewell holds a Master of Public Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Economic Development from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Radford University. His leadership has been instrumental in managing talent attraction strategies, business retention, and expansion efforts across multiple sectors, including technology, manufacturing, and real estate development.
