NEW ADS: Everytown Announces Nearly $9 Million Investment in State Legislative and Down Ballot Races

WASHINGTON - Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced a nearly $9 million campaign supporting state legislative candidates across Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, along with investments in other targeted down ballot races. The campaign, which will invest heavily in paid media across digital platforms in targeted battleground districts, will highlight MAGA Republicans' opposition to common sense gun safety laws and the extreme guns everywhere agenda they'll push in state legislatures if elected.

"So much of the national progress we've made on gun safety can be traced back to pioneering laws passed at the state level," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Over the last few election cycles, Everytown has built a winning playbook for electing gun sense champions in key state legislative seats in order to flip chambers and pass life-saving legislation. In the runup to Election Day, we're going all-out to make sure voters know which candidates will prioritize keeping their schools and communities safe from gun violence - and which candidates are putting them at risk by standing in the way."

Minnesota: "What If"

Transcript:

What if in Minnesota, violent criminals could buy guns with no questions asked?

Cancer patients were denied life-saving care?

And women lost the freedom to make their own medical decisions?

If MAGA Republicans take control in St. Paul, it won't be "what if" anymore.

Julie Greene is running for State House to pass gun safety laws, make healthcare more affordable, and protect abortion rights.

Because you deserve a safer Minnesota, and a State Rep who will fight for it.

Michigan:"No Place Like Home"

Transcript:

There's no place like homeā€¦

But for women in abusive relationships, home means something different.

Because when an abuser is armed, women are five times more likely to be killed.

MAGA Republicans like Ron Robinson would make it easier for domestic abusers to get guns, rolling back gun safety laws in Lansing.

Opposing Red Flag laws, and making 911 calls for domestic violence even deadlier for women and police.

Ron Robinson won't keep us safe.

Arizona: "No"

Transcript:

It isn't cancer or car accidents.

No, the leading cause of death for kids in America today is gun violence.

And MAGA Republicans like Pamela Carter are doing nothing to stop it.

In Phoenix, they oppose background checks that keep guns away from violent criminals and oppose red flag laws that could prevent school shootings.

So if you want to protect kids here in Arizona, vote no on Pamela Carter.

In 2022, Everytown went all-out to elect gun sense champions in state legislatures, clinching major victories in key states. In Minnesota, six Moms Demand Action volunteers won their elections, flipping the state Senate and delivering a gun sense trifecta. In Michigan, nine Moms Demand Action volunteers won their elections, flipping the statehouse to a gun sense majority and delivering the first gun sense majorities in nearly 40 years. Governor Walz and Governor Whitmer utilized their new gun sense trifectas to sign major gun safety legislation into law.

In July, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund announced a $45 million electoral program and the launch of a new grassroots voter contact program to help elect gun sense candidates and defeat gun extremists up and down the ballot in key swing districts and states. Everytown's efforts will focus on young voters on college campuses, voters of color, and suburban women in Arizona, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Last month, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced a record $7.5 million investment to train and elect Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers, including many candidates running in key races across the country.
