AEM Holds First-Ever Hill Day in Ottawa

AEM held its first-ever Hill Day in Ottawa, Oct. 22. Industry executives held meetings with Members of Parliament, Senatorsand senior Canadian government officials to discuss the public policy challenges facing equipment manufacturers across Canada. Equipment manufacturers employ over 152,000 Canadians and contribute $17.6 billionto Canada's GDP each year.

The decisions made in Ottawa have a direct impact on the economic health of the industry. Whether it is anticipatedchanges to Canada's immigration policy that could limit available skilledlabor, ongoing federal infrastructure investment, or the potential for a renegotiation of the Canada- United States - Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), changes to these policies will impactthe industry.

As the equipment manufacturing industry continues to develop new technologiesand products in Canada's agriculture, construction, mining, utility, and forestry sectors, AEM needs to increase its advocacy efforts across Canada to makingsure legislative and regulatory changes do not negatively impactthe growth of the industry. With expected changes to the Government of Canada in 2025, the industry cannot afford to sit on the bench.
