COMX 2024 to showcase future generation of computer games programmers

University of Gloucestershire's COMX 2024 will celebrate the creative, innovative and technical talents of the future generation of computer games programmers, showcasing their skills to employers and building connections in the billion-pound industry.

The exhibition features projects spanning computer games, interactive technologies and animation and art, all developed and created by students from the University studying degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Games Design, Computer Games Programming, Games Art, Game Development and Sound and Music Production.

Winners of the COMX 2024 awards, which will recognise the talents of students at the University, will be announced during the exhibition, to be held on Friday 7, June between 10am and 4pm at the University's Park Campus in Cheltenham.

Tickets for COMX 2024 are free but must be booked in advance.

COMX 2024, which also will be streamed online, will feature interviews with final-year students, trailers, and opportunities to experience the fun and excitement of playing computer games created by the students.

According to UK Interactive Entertainment, the leading trade body representing the UK's video games and interactive entertainment sector, the UK video games consumer market was valued at £7.82 billion in 2023.

COMX 2024 organiser Jamie Norval, Lecturer in Creative Tech and Games Art, said: "Over the past 20 years, the COMX exhibition has established itself as a really fun and engaging platform that enables our incredible students to demonstrate the skillset they have developed while studying with us.

"The COMX awards are an excellent way to reflect and celebrate the outstanding work of our students who have gone above and beyond over the past year among their peers.

"We extend an invitation to prospective students who want to work in the computer games industry to come along to find out more about studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University, and to employers looking to engage with final-year students with the up-to-date skills and knowledge to benefit their businesses."
