The DoD OIG submits semiannual reports summarizing its activities as required by the Inspector General Act of 1978. These reports serve to apprise Congress and the Secretary of Defense of noteworthy findings, progress, and recommendations for improvement.
The DoD OIG worked closely with its partners to ensure comprehensive and effective oversight of U.S. assistance to Ukraine. As the Lead IG for Operation Inherent Resolve, Mr. Storch recently traveled with the Department of State IG to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and Syria to meet with leaders from various U.S. military commands and embassies and foreign counterparts. Mr. Storch also visited Guam and Japan where he directed that the DoD OIG expand its oversight presence in the IndoPacific region to ensure it is fully capable of conducting investigative and programmatic oversight of DoD operations in this critical area of the world.
During this reporting period, the DoD OIG released 68 oversight reports, 3 whistleblower and Service member restriction misconduct investigations, and oversaw an additional 138 investigations conducted by the Military Service and Defense agency OIGs. The DoD OIG made 325 recommendations for improvement across diverse programs and operations. We did not experience any attempts by the DoD to interfere with our independence. The DoD fully cooperated with our work and did not refuse to provide, attempt to delay, or restrict access to records or other information.
The DoD OIG's remarkable work throughout the semiannual reporting period is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its employees.
